CDI Univerzum hosted partners in Ljubljana of the project The Chrysalis and the Butterfly. First the host welcome everybody and presented the agenda.
Špela Novak as a representative of CDI Univerzum partner presented CDI Univerzum good practice working in prison which involved story telling through the silent book. She also presented other prison activities. One of them is collaboration with UNICEF Slovenia, where female prisoners were making rag dolls. Those dolls represents a child from a developing country who needs to be vaccinated and needs our help. An individual can adopts a baby girl from rag with a donation, which goes for vaccination of one child against eight childhood infectious diseases in developing countries.
Second day we had a presentation of Probation in Slovenia, by the director of Probation Administration Danijela Mrhar Prelić. She explained that they provide assistance and protective supervision to persons on probation so that they will not commit other criminal offences and will be fully integrated into the community. Their aim is to make our society safer and more secure. The staff is composed of experienced experts in social work, social education, psychology, law, criminal justice and security, and other fields. The Probation Administration’s objective is to reduce the number of repeat offenders and provide a more humane and effective treatment of criminal offenders. Their mission also includes reducing the prison population and significantly contributing to a more secure society.
Following day, the project partners went to Dolenjska region where Slovenia has main prison – Dob. Prison director Zoran Remic and the head of education Nina Jevševar presented the system in the prison, and they took us for a tour around their premises. We had a closer look at the premisses where working therapy is taking place. We saw great products which are made during this therapy program.
Day after, the project partners gather to share experiences with autobiographical methodology in the prisons. After we had a cultural visit of Maribor and Ptuj.
Fifth day we shared artistic educational experiences with prisoners and after we had cultural visit of Bohinj and Bled.
The last day Eric from French team presented Seeding tool. After the presentation we all had a try out. We also had a look at our dissemination activities. After we planned our next meetings in Zagreb and Sicily.
